SCREAMING MEDIA
601 WEST 26TH STREET
NEW YORK, NY
2001
SIZE: 40,000sf office renovation on 8th and 9th floors
This project for internet content provider Screaming Media departs from traditional notions of the hierarchical office environment. Rather than doors, corner offices and cubicles, we created a series of dynamic volumes that provide private workspace within an open plan. Supple geometry and fluid sculptural spaces act in counterpoint to the ordered grid of columns in the large floor plates.
We exposed network wiring and other structured data distribution to reflect the core business activities and allow for flexibility and easy access. Construction began with a raw space and involved all new partitions, wall and ceiling finishes, office furniture including chairs, file cabinets and workstations, mechanical, electrical, lighting and fire protection.
